Our view on wine awards

In an industry that's often steeped in tradition and entrenched in conventional approaches, interpunkt is intending to challenge the status quo. Not only do we craft our wines in a sustainable and innovative way, but we're also committed to dismantling the academic hijacking of wine that's long dominated the scene.

One way we're doing this is by deciding not to submit our wines for awards. We believe in the subjective and deeply personal nature of enjoying a glass of wine. We resist the notion that an award or a high score can dictate what a good wine should taste like.

We've all been there. A bottle that has all the critical acclaim, but when you taste it, it just doesn’t click. Every palate is unique, and the beauty of wine is in the diversity of expressions it can offer. As such, we decided to make interpunkt for everyone, for real people, not just the experts.

Our brand is inspired by punk attitudes. We've sidestepped the traditional wine language, opting instead for a bolder, more direct approach that aims to excite rather than intimidate. By focusing on the journey rather than the destination, we celebrate each bottle sold as a unique occasion for our customers. Wine awards and scores feel like a destination and we don’t relate.

Our commitment to quality remains unwavering. Though we're not seeking the validation of awards, we take great care in crafting our wines. We believe that the real mark of quality is the joy and satisfaction of our customers, not an emblem on our bottle or an awarded number on our website.

We have questioned how we're going to stand out in a crowded marketplace without trying to achieve these award badges. That's where our ethos comes in. Our intention is for Interpunkt to not just be a wine in an ocean of wines; it's an experience. It's about having fun, being casual, being interesting and interested, and engaging with wine in a way that breaks free from conventions and it’s about having a punk attitude to climate change.

We’re taking a different path, driven by that exact punk-inspired attitude and response to climate change. Our wines are in recycled cardboard bottles, marking a significant step away from traditional glass, we do this to reduce the carbon that wine emits from every glass bottle made. This approach underscores our commitment to being different and standing up against the mainstream.

Ultimately, interpunkt is about embracing your own taste, creating your own experiences, and savouring the journey of wine discovery. In a sea of award badges and high scores, we're choosing to stand apart, focusing on what truly matters to us: crafting unforgettable wines and making sure our customers have a great time drinking them.

Here's to celebrating the good times, and living the punk ethos of interpunkt. Awards or not, we're here to make our own mark.
